SUMMARY:
In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this request for comments announces that the Coast Guard is forwarding one Information Collection Request (ICR), abstracted below, to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to request an extension of its approval of the following collection of information: 1625-0105, Regulated Navigation Area; Reporting Requirements for Barges Loaded with Certain Dangerous Cargoes, Inland Rivers, Eighth Coast Guard District and the Illinois Waterway, Ninth Coast Guard District. Our ICR describes the information we seek to collect from the public. Review and comment by OIRA ensures that we impose only paperwork burdens commensurate with our performance of duties.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
The Coast Guard invites comments on the proposed collection of information to determine whether the collection is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the Department. In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments addressing: (1) The practical utility of the collection; (2) the accuracy of the estimated burden of the collection; (3) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information that is the subject of the collection; and (4) ways to minimize the burden of collections on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.
Comments to DMS or OIRA must contain the OMB Control Number of the ICR. Comments to DMS must contain the docket number of this request, [USCG 2006-24849]. For your comments to OIRA to be considered, it is best if OIRA receives them on or before September 25, 2006.

Information Collection Request
Title: Regulated Navigation Area; Reporting Requirements for Barges Loaded with Certain Dangerous Cargoes (CDCs), Inland Rivers, Eighth Coast Guard District and the Illinois Waterway, Ninth Coast Guard District.
OMB Control Number: 1625-0105.
Type of Request: Extension of a currently approved collection.
Affected Public: Owners, agents, masters, towing vessel operators, or persons in charge of barges loaded with CDCs or having CDC residue operating on the inland rivers located within the Eighth and Ninth Coast Guard Districts.
Forms: None.
Abstract: This information is used to ensure port safety and security and to ensure the uninterrupted flow of commerce.
Burden Estimate: The estimated burden has increased from 911 hours to 1,179 hours a year.
